Homeschooling in Georgia: the paperwork, exactly

What Georgia law requires when you teach your child at home — the filings, the deadlines, the records — and what it does not require, in writing.

Georgia — Recurring filing calendar

Notice: Declaration of intent filed with the Georgia Department of Education within 30 days of starting, then by September 1 each year.

Ongoing duties: Nationally standardized test at least every 3 years from grade 3; keep annual progress assessments and attendance records.

Withdrawal from public school: no codified withdrawal procedure — a dated written notice to the school is the practice, and it creates your paper record.
