Homeschooling in Kentucky: the paperwork, exactly

What Kentucky law requires when you teach your child at home — the filings, the deadlines, the records — and what it does not require, in writing.

Kentucky — One annual filing

Notice: Send a written letter of intent to the local superintendent within 10 days of the beginning of the school year, every year.

Ongoing duties: Keep attendance records and scholarship (progress) reports; provide 1,062 instructional hours. No state testing.

Withdrawal from public school: no codified withdrawal procedure — a dated written notice to the school is the practice, and it creates your paper record.
