Homeschooling in South Carolina: the paperwork, exactly

What South Carolina law requires when you teach your child at home — the filings, the deadlines, the records — and what it does not require, in writing.

South Carolina — Recurring filing calendar

Notice: Choose one of three statutory routes: district approval (Option 1), SCAIHS membership (Option 2), or a homeschool association with 50 or more members (Option 3).

Ongoing duties: 180 days per year; parent must hold a diploma or GED; keep records (plan book, portfolio, progress reports); annual statewide testing under Option 1.

Withdrawal from public school: no codified withdrawal procedure — a dated written notice to the school is the practice, and it creates your paper record.
