Minnesota IEP evaluation deadlines

How long a Minnesota school district has — to answer your request, to finish the evaluation, and to meet — with the law cited for every number.

Minnesota's clock

State law sets no separate response deadline — federal law governs: the dated written request is still what starts everything, and a refusal must come with prior written notice.

After you sign consent, the evaluation must be finished within 30 school days (Minn. R. 3525.2550, subp. 2).

Recording a meeting: one-party (Minn. Stat. 626A.02, subd. 2(d)).

If the school misses: state complaint — allege a violation from the last 1 year (34 CFR §300.153(c)); due process — 2 years from when you knew or should have known (34 CFR §300.507(a)(2)).
