South Carolina IEP evaluation deadlines

How long a South Carolina school district has — to answer your request, to finish the evaluation, and to meet — with the law cited for every number.

South Carolina's clock

State law sets no separate response deadline — federal law governs: the dated written request is still what starts everything, and a refusal must come with prior written notice.

After you sign consent, the evaluation must be finished within 60 calendar days (S.C. Reg. 43-243(IV)(B)(1)(c)(1)).

Recording a meeting: one-party (S.C. Code § 17-30-30).

If the school misses: state complaint — allege a violation from the last 1 year (34 CFR §300.153(c)); due process — 2 years from when you knew or should have known (34 CFR §300.507(a)(2)).
